Case Study: DayNight Sunglasses
Background
If you’ve been following our recent posts, you’ll know all about DayNight Sunglasses. We started DayNight Sunglasses as part of a marketing experiment. We wanted to see how we could use AI to build an eCommerce business. While the website we created is still run using WordPress and Woo Commerce, this case study uses a new ‘demo’ website – it is not fully functioning, but meant to showcase how an AI-powered chatbot can be added to any website.
Design
We wanted this Chatbot to be simple-to-use and not overly complicated to implement. With that in mind, we kept the design simple, following the tried and tested chat-styled UI. In addition to the usual chat interface, we added a feature called “Suggested Questions” list. In our first draft of the chatbot, it didn’t give the user a response until after they had entered the whole question. With the suggested questions functionality, matching answers come back, as the user types in their question. As you can see in the screenshot below, this means that often you only have to enter one or two words.

Implementation
We implemented the AI-powered chatbot using Bolt.New, a great new no-code service, that makes it relatively easy to create simple user interfaces or mock-up design ideas. The chatbot uses a JSON formatted list of common FAQs. For this case-study, we pointed DeepSeek at the DayNight Sunglasses website to generate the required data.
